The ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 has teamed up with Unite for Children. Unite against AIDS. Here is one in a series of 10 profiles of well known cricketers who are supporting the campaign.
DWAYNE BRAVO is the kind of cricketer that the West Indies have been crying out for since the retirement of Sir Garfield Sobers in the 1970s – he is a genuine all-rounder.
This energetic and enthusiastic young cricketer has thrown his weight behind the Unite for Children. Unite against Aids campaign.
In a recent interview whilst playing in India he said: "I believe that prevention is better than cure. I believe that we should all come together as one to fight this disease that is killing so many of our young children today. I call on all my fans to take more responsibility and to protect themselves in the fight against AIDS."
"Cricket is a sport that's loved throughout the world and no matter where in the world you go you always see young kids running around playing cricket so I think it's great that international cricketers can come out and show their support for the fight against HIV/AIDS," he added.
Great expectations
Much is expected from the young Dwayne Bravo. He already has centuries against South Africa and Australia to his name. Against England in his debut year of 2004 he impressed with the bat but also recorded the outstanding figures of 6 for 55 with the ball at Old Trafford.
Still only 23 years old, Dwayne Bravo is the effervescent face of modern West Indian cricket - and if anyone can connect with the young fans of the game around the world and promote the messages of Unite for Children. Unite against Aids it is this multi-talented cricketer from Trinidad and Tobago.
